My first pounamu

Two years on
I met Ruth and Terry at Motueka market before Christmas 2012 during my visit to New Zealand. I was immediately impressed by their knowledge and respect of pounamu and meanings of the Maori symbols. The fantastic voyage
The beginning of my story is much the same as the next person's when ordering online. You see something you like, you click the mouse, you enter your details and within time said "something" appears on your doorstep. All the above happened smoothly until UK customs decided they wanted to make the journey slightly more challenging. While it was caught in limbo, the girl who was destined to wear this beautiful piece arrived from NZ and returned to NZ, Summer ended Autumn came, the leaves fell, then snow followed and Christmas. 2011 dawned and the greenstone was eventually where its was destined to be, in a loved one's possession. None of this would have been possible without the never ending hope and support of Ruth and Terry. Their never say die attitude and perseverance was an inspiration. We wrote back and forward so regularly that they have become friends and I look forward to meeting them both in March when I travel the South Island along with the girl and the greenstone.
